Built for bikes, not an afterthought.

Most auto transport brokers treat motorcycles like a small car. They are not. A bike has a center of gravity that wants to fall over, fairings that crack on a rough strap, and chrome that scuffs the second a ratchet touches it. We dispatch carriers who own bike chocks, soft tie kits, and wheel cradles, not guys figuring it out on the fly.

Whether you are moving a Road Glide to Florida for the winter, sending a vintage Triumph to a buyer in California, or relocating your weekend Ducati across the country, we route the load through carriers who run motorcycles every week. Enclosed is the default for most shipments. Open multi bike trailers are available for shorter runs and tighter budgets.

Pickup is at your house, your dealer, or your storage unit. Drop off is wherever you say. No terminals, no waiting at a freight yard, no riding it through traffic to make a deadline.

Why riders use Whipshipper

Plain English service from people who actually know bikes.

1

Soft tie down, every time

Straps go through the triple tree or bars, never around the frame or fairing. Wheel chock up front, soft ties at four points.

2

Enclosed is the default

For anything over $8,000, anything chrome heavy, or anything you ride yourself, we route enclosed. No rocks, no rain, no road grime.

3

One rider, one bike, one carrier

We do not let your bike sit at a terminal waiting for a truck to fill up. Pickup window means pickup window.

4

Insurance that covers the bike

Every carrier we book carries cargo insurance with motorcycle coverage included. You see the policy before pickup.

5

Built for big tours

Sturgis, Daytona, Laconia, we move bikes to and from every major rally. Book early, the lanes fill up fast.

6

Live GPS the whole way

Open your dashboard, see the truck on the map. No more calling dispatch every two hours.

Enclosed vs open for bikes

Two real options. Pick the one that matches what the bike is worth to you.

Enclosed trailer

  • Solo or shared with two to four other bikes
  • Soft tie down, wheel chock, no contact with other vehicles
  • Climate controlled options for vintage and show bikes
  • Recommended for any bike worth more than $8,000
  • Recommended for chrome, custom paint, fairings
  • Lift gate loading, no ramp angle stress

Open multi bike trailer

  • Shared trailer, four to eight bikes per load
  • Soft tie down, wheel cradle, weather exposure
  • Best for dual sport, dirt bikes, daily ride cruisers
  • Lower cost, faster availability on common lanes
  • Not recommended for show bikes or fresh paint
  • Ramp loading, watch low pipes on slammed customs

Prep your bike like a pro

Ten minutes before the carrier shows up saves you a lot of headaches.

Fuel down to a quarter tank

Carrier rules. Less fuel means less weight and less leak risk in transit.

Disable the alarm

Vibration on a moving trailer trips bike alarms. Disarm it or pull the fob fuse.

Fold the mirrors

Mirrors are the most common scuff point. Fold them in or remove them and bag them.

Document everything

Walk around with your phone. Photo every panel, the dash, the seat, the wheels. Timestamp matters.

Lock the forks

Steering lock on, bars centered. The carrier will load it, you do not need to ride it up.

Pull loose gear

Saddlebags, GPS mounts, phone holders, anything that rattles off. Take it home with you.

How it works

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a crate for my motorcycle?

No. Carriers we book use wheel chocks and soft tie downs. Crating is for international air freight, not US ground.

How long does motorcycle shipping take?

Pickup is usually 1 to 3 days from booking. Transit time depends on distance: 2 to 4 days for under 500 miles, up to 10 days coast to coast.

Is the bike insured during shipping?

Yes. Every carrier we dispatch carries active cargo insurance that covers your motorcycle in transit. You can request the certificate before pickup.

Should I ship open or enclosed?

For anything over $8,000, anything custom painted, or any chrome heavy bike, enclosed is the right call. Daily rider cruisers and dual sports do fine on open.

Can you pick up from a dealership?

Yes. We pick up from dealers, auctions, storage units, private homes, anywhere with truck access.

How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle?

Open transport runs $350 to $1,300 depending on distance. Enclosed runs $550 to $2,100. Get a real quote for your exact route.

Do you ship motorcycles internationally?

We ship anywhere in the lower 48 states. For Hawaii, Alaska, and international, we partner with ocean and air freight specialists.

What if my bike is not running?

Non running bikes ship fine. Tell us during quoting and the carrier brings a winch. There is a small inop fee, usually $50 to $100.

Can I ship gear with the bike?

A helmet and a small saddlebag of soft gear is usually fine. No loose items, no large tool boxes, no liquids. Ask before booking.

Do I need to be there for pickup?

You or someone over 18 with ID. The driver does a walk around inspection and you both sign the bill of lading.

Every auto transport service we run

Auto transport is not one product. A dealer moving forty units off an auction lane, a collector shipping a numbers matching car across the country, and a family sending one sedan ahead of a move are three different jobs that happen to use the same highways. They need different trailers, different insurance limits, different loading equipment, and different scheduling. Quoting all three the same way is how customers end up with a truck that cannot legally carry their vehicle. Pick the line below that matches what you are actually moving, and the quote comes back against the right equipment the first time.

By who is shipping

Not sure which one fits? Call (888) 780-6207 and describe the vehicle and the route. A dispatcher will tell you which equipment it needs and what the lane is running, or start with an instant quote and adjust from there.

Read before you book

Most complaints in this industry trace back to something the customer was never told: that the first quote was a placeholder, that the broker on the phone is not the company driving the truck, or that personal items in the trunk are not covered by cargo insurance. None of that is complicated once somebody explains it. These are the explainers we send customers before they book, written to be useful whether or not you ship with us.
